'The Mortal Instruments: CITY OF HEAVENLY FIRE' Set to Release Next Year on May 6th

Simon & Schuster have updated their page for City of Heavenly Fire. Now, it says that the final book to The Mortal Instruments will be shipped on May 6th, 2014.

According to Simon & Schuster, the book will be 496 pages.

The Shadowhunter's App still says March 1st, however that would be a highly unusual date to release a book because it is a Saturday.

June, 20: By Request a New Simon and Izzy 'CITY OF HEAVENLY FIRE' Snippet

place holder art
Cassandra Clare revealed another Mortal Instruments: City of Heavenly Fire snippet. This time, Clare was taking requests for which character the snippet would be about. She got a lot of Simon and Sebastian requests. But, settled on an interesting Simon and Isabelle snippet:
In case you can't see the tweet, the snippet is:
They landed at Simon's feet. "Take your clothes and go!" Isabelle shouted.

The last book to The Mortal Instruments -City of Heavenly Fire- comes out next March!

Final Shadowhunter Tarot Cards: Fairchild of TLH and the Morgensterns of TMI

Cassandra Jean has created Shadowhunter Tarot Cards. Some of the cards have been switched out for others (you can view all the unofficial ones here), but Cassandra Clare announced on her tumblr that the card deck has been finalized. There are around 70 cards in total. Some of the cards we have seen before and some we haven't, but be ware, there are spoilers! To see all the official cards so far, click here.
We’ve moved on from the Major Arcana to the minor Arcana — the first suit is the suit of Rings, which takes the place of the suit of Pentacles. Each Rings card shows the family ring of a particular Shadowhunter family and some of the members. I decided to do two today, since I’m way behind on posting these. Above Matthew Fairchild, of TLH, with the ring of the Fairchilds and a carnation flower. Below Clary and Sebastian, both of whom have Fairchild blood too, stand in for the Morgensterns, with their rings.

Final Shadowhunter Tarot Cards: Valentine Morgenstern in Chains

Cassandra Jean has created Shadowhunter Tarot Cards. Some of the cards have been switched out for others (you can view all the ones that are out here), but Cassandra Clare announced on her tumblr that the card deck has been finalized. There are around 70 cards in total. Some of the cards we have seen before and some we haven't, but be ware, there are spoilers!
Valentine takes the Devil cup because, well, who else really. He is always comparing himself to Milton’s Satan, his last name is Morgenstern (which means morning star, as inHow are you fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how are you cut down to the ground, who did weaken the nations!) his motto is non serviam, etc and so on.

Cassie asked Cassandra Jean to create 4 pictures with 4 seasons. In each season, there are characters from each of Cassie's different series -The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices, The Dark Artifices, and the mysterious TLH.

Here The Mortal Instruments takes the season of fall. From left: Maia, Simon and Isabelle, Sebastian (lurking darkly on a bench) Jace and Clary, Luke and Jocelyn, Alec and Magnus, and Jordan, all in Central Park on a fall day.

'City of Heavenly Fire' Spoilery Art Scene by Cassandra Jean

Cassie just loves to kill tease us, check out the new art work from Cassandra Jean called Everyone Seems Too Happy.
City of Heavenly Fire: spoilery fanart
Otherwise known as Everyone Seems Too Happy…
Some CoHF spoilery art for you! With Clockwork Princess now out for a month, I’ve decided it’s time to start mixing up answers about Clockwork Princess and cut scenes with a few teasers for the last book in that other series. This teaser isn’t words, it’s art by Cassanda Jean. I won’t make any promises about what it means but I think, unlike the previous piece, and the other previous piece, and oh, that last piece … that you may well not like it. :D
It IS A SPOILER for an actual scene, so it’s under a cut.

Some of the cards have been switched out for others (you can view all the ones that are out here), but Cassandra Clare announced on her tumblr that the card deck has been finalized. Each day, Cassie will try to post a new card on her tumblr. There are around 70 cards in total. Some of the cards we have seen before and some we haven't, but be ware, there are spoilers!

Day 7 of 70: Final Shadowhunter Tarot Cards: Clace and Malec

Cassandra Jean has created Shadowhunter Tarot Cards. Some of the cards have been switched out for others (you can view all the ones that are out here), but Cassandra Clare announced on her tumblr that the card deck has been finalized. Each day, Cassie will try to post a new card on her tumblr. There are around 70 cards in total. Some of the cards we have seen before and some we haven't, but be ware, there are spoilers!
The Lovers card! Its meaning is pretty self-explanatory. I thought I’d attach the first version we did, which was just Jace and Clary. For whatever reason it wasn’t working for us. Maybe because Jace looks slightly evil? :) Also I felt like there are so many characters whose relationships could represent unity and love. So we decided to make it a flippable card, which worked either way up, and have Magnus and Alec represent love as well.

Day 6 of 70: Final Shadowhunter Tarot Cards: Brother Zachariah

Cassandra Jean has created Shadowhunter Tarot Cards. Some of the cards have been switched out for others (you can view all the ones that are out here), but Cassandra Clare announced on her tumblr that the card deck has been finalized. Each day, Cassie will try to post a new card on her tumblr. Some of the cards we have seen before and some we haven't, but be ware, there are spoilers!
Oh, this is fun! So Cassandra Jean has finished the complete Shadowhunter Tarot, so for the next … seventy-something days I’ll be posting a card a day in order, from the first card to the last. Some will be under spoiler cuts; some you’ll have seen before — I’ll explain why each character has the card they have.

This is Brother Zachariah as The Hierophant. The Hierophant is sometimes called the priest, the Shaman, or the Pope. “While the Magician was taking raw power from the Universe and manifesting it on the material plane, the Hierophant channels that power through society (as in the religions of the world).” The Silent Brothers are the studious monks of the Shadowhunter world, so it fit.
Above is the card Cassandra drew when she didn’t know who Brother Zachariah was/had been before he became a Brother. Below is the card she drew afterward! In both images, he holds the Mortal Sword.

With Clockwork Princess now out for a month, I’ve decided it’s time to start mixing up answers about Clockwork Princess with a few teasers for the last book in that other series. This teaser isn’t words, it’s art. I won’t make any promises about what it means but I think you’ll like it. ;) It IS A SPOILER though, so it’s under a cut.
Magnus’ scarf is like its own character at this point.
Quiet the overload of Malec feels, eh?

The Collection of all the Shadowhunter Tarot Cards (at the moment)

The cards are listed in order of the days they came out (to see the latest card, click here). Above the cards, it is the background information from Cassie's tumblr. The collection of cards have characters starting from The Infernal Devices, The Mortal Instruments all the way to The Dark Artifices. Through these cards we have found some new characters -Julian Blackthorn, Emma Carstairs, Cristina Rosales, Livia and Tiberius Blackthorn- that I'm sure we will love as much as The Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices crew.
Cassandra Jean is doing a set of Shadowhunter Tarot cards, starting with the characters from the Dark Artifices. (Isn’t Jules adorable?) They don’t have the same titles as the Major Arcana of the real Tarot, but you can see by their numbers what cards they match up to (Julian, #4, matches The Emperor.)

Mortal Instruments on The Guardian's "Top 10 Secret Society Books"

The Mortal Instruments makes the list for "CJ Daugherty's top 10 secret society books"
From The Guild of the Faceless Men of Braavos in The Game of Thrones to Dumbledore's Army in Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix, thriller writer CJ Daugherty picks her favourite 'secret society' novels for teens

Here's what they had to say about The Mortal Instruments:
8. The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra ClareShadowhunters are a secret group who look very much like ordinary humans but who are only really a little human. Technically nephilim – or half-human, half-angels – they have superior strength and natural skills that allow them to see and fight the demons that threaten the world. The story of 16-year-old Clary Fray, an ordinary girl who finds out one day, when her mother disappears, that she is not an ordinary girl at all but one of the shadowhunters, is consistently thrilling. Clare writes amazing battle scenes, and spins hugely suspenseful story lines. The impossible becomes possible when she is writing. These are among my favourite YA books available at the moment.
